Md. Jahid is now 9 years old who got cerebral palsy after birth in early age of his boyhood. He came of a poor family in Andharmanik village, Boira Union of Harirampur Upazila in Manikganj district. His father is Chan Miah an auto rikshaw driver and mother Jahanara Akter is a housewife. Due to poverty the family live with struggles and difficulties to take care of Jahid’s health and schooling properly. In 2018, MDPOD kicked off PRIDE project in Harirampur Upazila, Manikganj funded by LF-DRRA. In this project, Jahid was enlisted as a member. Initially he was found not good physical condition with his disability.
Due to that he could not do an Activity of Daily Living (ADL) by himself like- wear dress, brush, bathe and some other things properly.
Under the project his health condition was assessed and set goals for health and mental development by the Physiotherapist. At the same time, he was provided necessary therapy and medicine and he was kept under follow-up activities as per routines. After a few months his condition gradually improved. This therapy helped his condition and he learnt to do his ADLs with success and became sound mind. Later he was admitted into school and he is studying in class two now. Seeing his doing ADLs and school-going Jahid’s parents are happy. This is a great success of the project by MDPOD.
