About MDPOD
Manikganj Disabled People’s Organization to Development (MDPOD) is a right-based development organization of the disabled people. It is a non-profitable and non-government organization of, by and for the disabled persons. It was established with the initiative of Md. Antaj Ali (current Director) and a group of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in 2003 in Manikganj district of Bangladesh.
It has been working for positive changes to reduce negligence, discrimination, barrier, increase accessibility and to establish rights of PwDs’ socio-economic development, self-reliant through mainstreaming. It aims to increase participation of PwDs from grassroots to national level through positive change of the society that enable to contribute for the national development.
Future Plan:
- Program expansion in other districts.
- Establish Disability Information & Research Center.
- Establish Health Care & Rehabilitation Center for persons with disabilities.
- Formation of grassroots DPOs.
Vision and Mission:
MDPOD wants to see all persons with disabilities live independently with dignity in a barrier-free family & community where they can be equally contribution to their own development and that of the general society.
MDPOD is non-governmental organization of persons with disabilities and is committed to directly working with people with disabilities and enabling them to be self-reliant and contribution to society’s development.
