Governance of MDPOD

There is a management committee at GDPOD level consists of 3 members such as a chairman, secretary and finance secretary elected for each. of Grassroots DPOD by the members. A weekly meeting is held. The role of the DPOD is to lobby at. grassroots level, refer relevant information to regional and national levels about issues that need to be considered in a broader way, or are not possible to be solved at Grassroots level. At this level members and beneficiaries, Grassroots leaders, service providers and activists.

Representatives from each Grassroots DPODs are elected by their peers to be part of the MDPOD General Council GC. The (G.C) is responsible for policy making planning and constitutional matters. From this body seven members of the GC are elected to form 7 members of DPOD Executive Council (E.C).The role of the E.C is as decision maker to implement the decisions made by these bodies at district level. The E.C is also responsible for resource mobilization, monitoring and follow-up activities at the regional level. MDPODs maintain Links with networks and work as advocates at the regional level; issues that cannot be solving at regional level are referred to the national level.

Director: The Director is the Chief Executive officer of MDPOD. He is responsible for all program operation fund raising, fund management and accountable to the General Council and Executive Council for implementation of their decision. He is also responsible for formulating and reviewing the budget, staff recruitment, administration, implementing new programs, planning and ensuring the appropriate implementation of program With the Consultation of EC. The EC is also responsible for guiding and assisting the Director in implementing activities all in conformance with the constitution and organizational regulations.

Legal Status: Manikgonj Disabled Peoples’ Organization to Development (MDPOD) has been registered as a voluntary organization Under the Social Welfare Act 1961 with the Department of Social Services (DSS) under the Ministry of Social Welfare to the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh in 2003 Vide Registration No: Reg. Ma- 0417 and NGO affairs bureau, Ministry of prime minister to the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh vide no- 2510, Date 05 November-2009.
